Tune-Up Tourney a success
Sunday’s “Tune-Up Tournament” at the YMCA was a success, as our teams got some valuable playing time against opposition from around the area. Both the Binghamton Blue and Binghamton White squads played well throughout, in their first real-game situations.
It was also a success in that all the 11 teams participating, as well as their families, donated a CHOW barrel, full to the brim, with food items. Thank you to all who chipped in.
Binghamton Blue went 1-3, but even in three losses, played very competitive basketball. Coach Mike Robinson said he was very encouraged by the improvements made in just the team's 4 games played Sunday.
Binghamton White went 4-0, capped by an exciting final game with the always-tough team from Athens, Pa. Binghamton trailed this contest 15-5, then staged a furious comeback to win by 2 (30-28).
Thank you to our core group of parents Sunday for their fantastic support in donating items for the concession table, then volunteering their time to help run things all day. Those who worked the concession table were: Erika Hinckley (Devin Weldon's mom), Jeff Bideaux (Jordan's dad), Sueann Alapeck (Garrett's mom), Deanna Walsh (Casey's mom), Maribel Acensio (Milton Jimenez's mom), Tim Whiteman (Matt and Gabe's dad), Mary Pat Keenan (Emily's mom), Chris McLain (Jonah Chambers' step-dad), and Helga Jensen (Roberto's mom).
Also, a special thank you to Erika Hinckley for acquiring the great tickets for the raffle (as well as putting together the entire basket). The winner of 4 tickets to Nemo on Ice, 4 movie tickets, 2 Syracuse basketball tickets, 4 Binghamton Senators tickets and 2 tickets to see a Cider Mill Playhouse show was Susquehanna Valley-6 head coach Brad Manchester.
Now, for some basketball.
