The Rage 7s went 3-1 for the second straight weekend AAU tournament, and have now gone 7-2 in their last 9 AAU-level games, crossing over the Syracuse Select Tournament, the Ruckus at Wilkes Barre Tournament, and this past weekend's Run & Gun Rage-hosted tourney.
Rage 7 won its first game of the weekend Saturday night, 45-26, over Red Wave (a Waverly-based squad), then followed up with a 48-30 win over 21 Hoops Saturday morning. Rage then played a strong Central Western team and lost 60-48 in perhaps this Rage group's best effort of the season.
Playing in a second-place game Sunday against the STNY Flyers (Maine-Endwell), Rage controlled the game throughout and got the win against a gritty M-E crew, 48-43.
Note: Central Western eventually won the bracket title by beating Northeast Machine by 8 points. (Northeast Machine had beaten the Flyers (M-E) 59-57 to advance to the first-place game.)
