White Tops Ithaca; Blue/Black Pushes Same Team
Ithaca's top travel team visited Roosevelt Elementary Friday night for a doubleheader. In the opener, Binghamton White pulled away after halftime to beat Ithaca, 63-46. In the second game, players from Binghamton's Blue and Black team were tied with that same Ithaca team late in the fourth quarter, but ended up losing that one, 60-57. In the second game, Binghamton went 7-for-19 from the foul line and missed several inside put-backs throughout.

Binghamton Teams Undefeated This Past Week
At all levels, the Binghamton Travel basketball teams won their games this past week. Last Sunday, Black traveled to Norwich and came home with a 40-31 win (stats will be available soon). On Tuesday, White topped JC's 6th-grade team 59-23. Afterward, Blue played the same JC-6 squad and came away with an impressive 51-30 victory. The Red squad played a Thursday home game against Vestal-4 and got a win there, 46-15, and on Saturday afternoon, Black played a Vestal team at the Endicott Boys & Girls Club, winning there, 50-27. The Blue and Black teams also had a competitive scrimmage Friday night, but no stats were recorded.

Rage-8 Tops Epiphany in Owego League
The Rage-8 squad improved to 2-0 in the Owego Modified League Sunday afternoon with a 41-27 win over Epiphany (Sayre area). Trevor Borchardt dominated in the paint, scoring 16 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and notching 8 blocked shots for Rage. It was a second solid defensive performance in the league for Rage, which had 13 blocks as a team, adding 6 steals.

Rage-8 Gets First Owego League Victory
The Rage-8 squad played its first Owego Modified League game Saturday, and with a strong full-game defensive effort, came away with a 50-28 win over the Binghamton Boys & Girls Club. The game was tied at 10-apiece about halfway through the first half when Rage began to pull away. Rage finished the game on an 11-2 run to get to the final margin.

Binghamton Travel: Three Weekend Games
On Saturday morning, the Blue and Black squads played an inter-squad scrimmage with the Blue team coming away with a 49-36 win.
Later in the day, a combined squad defeated Endicott 42-40. Binghamton trailed 18-9 after the first quarter and was behind 26-13 in the second quarter. Binghamton trailed 28-21 at halftime, but staged a furious comeback, scoring the first 10 points of the third quarter in the victory.
The late-afternoon Red team's game came down to the wire, when Alex Creigh's rebound and putback at the buzzer secured the team's 2-point victory over Seton Catholic.

Binghamton White Wins at JC
The Binghamton White travel basketball team won its first game of 2012, beating Johnson City (6) 44-33 at JC Friday night. Tyshawn High scored 14 points, Brandon Sprouse had 9 points and 10 rebounds, and Jalil Butts scored 8. Binghamton outscored JC in each of the four quarters.
Note: Jordan McGahy was placed on the disabled list. Foot surgery on Friday was reported to have been successful. Jordan is expected back in the lineup in two weeks.

Rage-8 Tunes Up for Owego League with Corning-8
The Rage-8 squad (plus Nicky Snyder) tuned up for this weekend's start of the Owego Modified League with its second scrimmage in a week. This time the Southern Tier Storm (Corning/Elmira/Horseheads) travelled to Roosevelt Elementary in Binghamton.
The Owego League games will be 20-minute running-time halves, save for the final two minutes of the game. On Thursday, the scrimmage consisted of four of those 20-minute periods of play. With seven of its roster players on hand, Rage held the upper hand when it was finished, 108-63.
Interesting was that three of Rage's inside players (Jake Thompson, Trevor Borchardt and Nate Gaster) each ended with an identical 26 points, 12 rebounds. Thompson notched a triple-double, adding 11 assists to his line.

Binghamton 4/5 Wins Holiday Hoopfest
The combined Binghamton 4/5 Travel Team won the Holiday Hoopfest on New Year's Eve day with a 50-43 victory over Seton Catholic. In the semifinal game earlier in the day, Binghamton defeated Maine-Endwell (5), 51-34.
The players each received a very nice trophy for their 4-0 showing in the tournament, which ran from December 28-31. Also, 5th-grader Gabe Whiteman and 4th-grader Colbie Young were named to All-Tournament Team, each receiving an additional trophy.
