Binghamton 7/8s Beat Corning in Overtime

The Binghamton-based group of 7/8 traveled west again this week, Wednesday heading to Corning. In a game that saw seven lead changes, Binghamton emerged with a 58-54 overtime win.

Binghamton was plagued by turnovers and several missed shots after offensive rebounds. They had five players in double-digits in rebounds, and another with 9 rebounds.

Binghamton built an early 12-6 lead, then saw Corning go on an 18-3 run through midway into the second quarter. Binghamton came back, though, tying the game at 34-apiece in the third, eventually taking the lead (46-44) with about 6 minutes to play in regulation. Binghamton held a 50-47 edge late, but one of eight Corning 3-pointers on the night tied it and eventually led to overtime.

In the three-minute OT, Roberto Jensen opened the scoring with a 3-pointer (53-50). After Corning hit 1-of-2 free throws (53-51), Nicky Snyder scored on a strong inside move (55-51) Corning came back down the floor, though, and hit another 3-pointer (55-54) just before Isiah Turner scored on the inside on a nice pass from Snyder (57-54). Binghamton made a couple strong defensive stops, and Corning missed three free throws with under 1:30 to play.

After a missed Corning shot with 12.7 seconds to go, Snyder was fouled after he controlled aa rebound. He hit the first of his two free throws (58-54) to secure the win.
