Binghamton 4/5 played Whitney Point-5 Thursday night at Roosevelt and came away with a 44-29 victory.
Binghamton got out to a 15-11 first-quarter lead, as Nate Gaster and Anthony Ferranti scored inside and Garrett Alapeck converted on three drives for field goals.
In the second quarter, Binghamton played tight defense. Whitney Point scored first to cut the lead to 15-13, but Binghamton went on a 7-2 run the remainer of the first half. Point scored first to open the third quarter as well, but the Binghamton defense stepped up again, helping a 10-2 run. Binghamton led 32-19 heading into the fourth quarter.
While Jonah Chambers' 3 rebounds won't stand out in the stats category, he set the tone for Binghamton's swarming defense, playing much of the time on the floor, scrambling for loose basketballs and playing a hard-nosed brand of ball.
