The Maine-Endwell-6 team came to Roosevelt Tuesday night and topped Binghamton 5/6 Blue, 66-42 on the strength of a 39-point second half.
M-E led 14-9 after the first quarter, and extended that lead to 16-9 just into the second quarter. But Binghamton answered, with Nate Gaster first sinking two free throws, then scoring inside on a fast break to get Blue back to within 16-13. A Maine-Endwell 3-pointer extended the lead, but Sarbast Doski and Andre Hawkins scored back-to-back buckets to get Binghamton to within 19-17. One more M-E basket put the lead at 4 points before Hawkins scored two straight baskets to tie the game at 21-apiece. M-E scored 6 straight points to end the first half, leading at the break, 27-21.
M-E used its running game early and often in the third quarter, pushing its lead to 45-29. Through the end of the third and into the fourth quarter, M-E went on a 16-2 run, putting the game away.
