Binghamton 5-6 White played the Chenango Valley-6 team in the opener of the Johnson City Holiday Tournament in a game with a too-familiar feel. After losing by 1 Wednesday night, Binghamton lost to CV Thursday, 43-42. And like on the night before, Binghamton squandered a 9-point lead late in the game.
Binghamton's Nate Gaster fouled out with 2:59 left to go, but two Milton Jimenez free thows with about 2:30 left to play gave White a 40-31 lead. CV then employed a full-court press that gave Binghamton trouble. With 1:11 remaining, a Kyeem Holmes free throw still had Binghamton ahead 41-35 lead, but three straight CV baskets off the press tied the game. CV then hit two free throws going ahead 43-41.
With :02 remaining, Holmes was fouled driving to the basket. He nailed the first free throw, but couldn't convert the second.
Note: Binghamton White lost two players in the past week. Latrel McFarlane has been ruled academically ineligible (parents' decision). Elijah Simon was removed from the team (parents' decision).
