Binghamton 5-6 White advanced to tonight's playoff round of the Johnson City Holiday Tournament with a hard-fought 43-39 win over Whitney Point Monday night.
No. 4 seed Binghamton (2-2 in tourney play) plays No. 1 seed Susquehanna Valley (3-1) at 7:45 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Johnson City Middle School. Binghamton handed SV its only tournament loss Saturday afternoon, 42-40.
Binghamton never trailed in this game, holding a 7-point lead in the first half, a 21-15 cushion at halftime, and a 12-point advantage (41-29) with about five minutes to play. But a pesky WP team, led by point guard Josh Dean, stayed within range, cutting the Binghgamton lead to 42-39 with 1:39 left.

* After missing four straight games, Latrel McFarlane returned to action Monday night, with a renewed focus on academics.
* On a "tournament high scorers" list posted in the lobby at the tournament, Nate Gaster's 26-point game against SV Saturday ranked No. 1, while Kyeem Holmes ranked 5th and 7th on the list with scoring games of 19 and 17 points.
* The loss eliminated Whitney Point from tournament play.
