Binghamton Travel players Milton Jimenez, Roberto Jensen are free throw champions

Updated Team Schedules

Saturday afternoon at St. James in Johnson City, several Binghamton Travel basketball players competed in the annual Knights of Columbus-sponsored Free Throw Championship. Two of them came away as champs, while more placed in the running.

Milton Jimenez (12) and Roberto Jensen (11) won their age division championships, and each will compete next Saturday in the next round of the state competition. Winners next Saturday advance to a regional round of shooting in Syracuse.

Shafeeq Hosea (10), who plays alongside Jimenez and Jensen for the St. Thomas Gold CYO team, also won his division and will compete again Saturday for the chance to advance.

* In the 12-year-old division, Jimenez won outright, making 11-of-15 attempts. Binghamton Travel player Latrel McFarlane finished second in the age group after he tied another competitor with 8-for-15, then won after two tie-breaker rounds.

* In the 11-year-old division, Jensen tied with another competitor, each going 11-for-15. In the first tie-breaker, each shooter went 3-for-5. In the second tie-breaker, the first shooter made 2, then Jensen stepped up and made 3 of his first 4 free throws to secure the win.

Binghamton Travel players Jordan Bideaux and Andy Garcia made 10-of-15 in the first round, tying Muhammad Trammell (who also plays for the St. Thomas Gold CYO team). Bideaux won the tie-breaker, going 3-for-5, securing third place for the 11s.
