Travel results from this weekend

Binghamton White 63, M-E Blue 33

The Binghamnton 5-6 White team found itself behind after the first quarter Friday night, and ahead by a single field goal at the half against Maine-Endwell Blue. But after intermission, it was a different story, as White outscored M-E 39-11 in the second half for a 63-33 victory at Calvin Coolidge Elementary.

M-E led 12-11 after the first quarter, and Binghamton grabbed a slight lead by halftime (24-22). By the end of the third, White led 42-32, and in the fourth, Binghamton dominated, outscoring M-E Blue, 21-1 for the final margin.

Binghamton 3-4 Red 39, SV-4 25

Playing at full strength for the first time in several weeks, the Binghamton third- and fourth-graders built a quick 12-0 lead, had a 21-7 edge at halftime, then held off a small SV fourth-quarter run for the win. Leading 33-17, Binghamton saw SV score 6 straight points to cut the lead to 35-23. Jordan McGahee then scored the final two baskets for the final margin.

Binghamton Blue 48, Athens 46

Binghamton 5-6 Blue battled with a smaller, but disciplined Athens team Saturday evening (at Athens), finally securing a 48-46 win.

The teams were deadlocked at 12-apiece after the first quarter, with the lead changing hands in the second quarter. Suehaidee Masso's lay-up as time expired before the half gave Blue a 26-22 lead at the break.

Binghamton built a 40-32 lead in the third and a quick score as the fourth began put the lead at 10 points. Hot shooting was the answer for Athens, though, as they crlawed back to within 46-44. With several fouls to give, Athens made the last minute of the game very exciting, but Blue handled the pressure well, executing several inbounds plays flawlessly to preserve the win.

Interesting to note: Athens went 7-for-12 on free throws. While Binghamton Blue scored all but 4 of its points from inside the paint, the team did not attempt a free throw in this contest.

Binghamton Blue 16, Seton Catholic 15

In a defensive struggle, Binghamton 5-6 Blue overcame a lackluster performance to get the victory. Blue led 6-4 after the first quarter, with Seton holding a 10-8 halftime edge. Binghamton's scoring drought continued through the third quarter, as Seton led 12-8 heading into the fourth, during which Blue outscored SCC 8-3 to secure the win in the low-scoring affair.
