Binghamton White tops JCC

Binghamton 5-6 White got off to a fast start and maintained that effort throughout, defeating a team from the Jewish Community Center 68-47 Wednesday night at Calvin Coolidge Elementary.

Binghamton led 28-16 after the first quarter and 42-28 at halftime. In the third quarter, Binghamton's starters, who played just the first and third quarters, built the lead to 28 points (62-34) on the strength of a 16-2 run toward the end of the half. White also led by 27 in the fourth quarter (64-37) as Matt-Collins-Pringle drained a nice 15-foot jump shot from the left side.

Fifth-grader Devin Young emerged as a defensive stopper Wednesday, being assigned the task to slow JCC's leading scorer, Brian Tableman. Despite Tableman getting his points, many came from the perimeter after Young took over. Young did a great job, using his quickness to stay in front of the JCC shooting guard, forcing him left and right while denying drives down the lane.
