White comes back, beats SCC by 20

The Binghamton 5-6 White team scored just 4 points in the second quarter and trailed 17-12 at halftime in its Saturday arfternoon game against Seton Catholic Central-6 at the Binghamton YMCA.

But after intermission, White was treated to "The Milton Show," as they jokingly refer to it, as Milton Jimenez helped dig Binghamton out of its funk, sparking the second-half comeback, scoring 18 of his game-high 20 points after the break. Binghamton won this one, 48-28.

The Binghamton White offense was virtually invisible throughout the first half Saturday. Binghamton led 8-7 after the first quarter, but lackluster defense and sloppy ball-handling by Binghamton opened the door for SCC to outscore White 10-4 in the second quarter.

The second half was a different story. Jimenez led the charge after Nate Gaster got Binghamton to within 17-14. For the next 14 minutes or so, Jimenez consistently drove to the basket and either scored, was fouled, or his near-misses led to Binghamton offensive rebounds and put-backs, two of which came on back-to-back trips down court by Kyeem Holmes.

Later, Jimenez went to the line twice and missed four free throws, but made up for it with three more field goals in rapid succession. Holmes mixed in a bucket of his own and Binghamton was in charge, leading 30-19.

Binghamton scored the first 8 points of the fourth quarter (two baskets by - who else - Jimenez, one by Gaster, one by Latrel McFarlane) to lead 42-25. Roberto Jensen, Jimenez and Jonah Chambers comprised the game-ending 6-0 White run to get to the final score.

Jimenez also played a terrific game on defense, picking up the SCC point guards at midcourt in the second half. His quick-footed efforts seemed to take Seton out of its comfort zone, as Jimenez consistent pushed the SCC ball-handlers toward McFarlane and Holmes, who combined for 4 steals, Gaster added 3 steals of his own on the inside.
