White tops Corning, 51-45; Blue falls to Forks

Saturday's schedule:
* Binghamton 5-6 White hosts Seton Catholic at 2:30 p.m. (Binghamton YMCA).
* Binghamton 3-4 Red hosts Chenango Forks at 3:30 p.m. (Johnson City YMCA).
* Binghamton 5-6 Blue is idle.

On Friday night, the Binghamton 5-6 White squad got 16 points from Latrel McFarlane, 7 of those coming during the pivotal 11-2 run to end the game, as White beat Corning at the Binghamton YMCA, 51-45.

White held a 22-18 edge at the half, but Corning grabbed the lead early in the third quarter, 30-26. Baskets by Roberto Jensen and Milton Jimenez tied the game at 30-apiece before Corning went on a 5-0 run to end the period. Corning led after three quarters, 39-34, outscoring Binghamton in the period, 21-12.

Binghamton White, however, rode three Jimenez field goals in the early minutes of the fourth quarter to get within 42-40. Nate Gaster's inside bucket made it 43-42, and a McFarlane basket gave Binghamton the lead for good, 44-43.

Another McFarlane basket on a feed from Jensen made it 46-43 at the 2:42 mark, and Gaster's inside put-back 31 seconds later gave White a 48-43 lead.

Corning scored again, but McFarlane made 1-0f-2 free throws, then another field goal with 40 seconds remaining for the final margin of victory.

Chenango Forks 57, Binghamton Blue 30

A decided size advantage helped Chenango Forks top Binghamton 5-6 Blue Friday night at Calvin Colidge, but more than that, it was the CF hot shooting that made the difference in the 57-30 final.

Forks just hit jump shot after jump shot with hands in their faces, as Blue didn't have the answer in this game. Forks led 13-8 after the first quarter and 29-18 at halftime. The score was 41-26 after three. Binghamton went 0-for-6 from the foul line.
